Abstract
The museum compound of the Titanic Belfast was inaugurated on March 31, 2012, in the immediate surroundings of the Harland & Wolff shipyards where the largest transatlantic cruise-liner of that time was built between 1909 and 1911. As a matter of fact, the museum compound is itself enshrined in a large urban project, the Titanic Quarter, jointly funded by the Northern Ireland Council on Tourism, the City council of Belfast, the Belfast Port Authority and the Titanic Quarter Ltd. This paper focuses on the urban renewal processes induced by such developments, either at the level of the town or at the more reduced level of the museum compound.
